Puppets are magical.
They can be anything we can imagine and do things we can only dream of.
Puppets gives us another body to work through and express ourselves with.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as taking an idea and lifting it off the page into a fully realised puppet.
These are a few of the puppets I've made for theatre projects, festivals, parades and live-action role play events
Boy the Dog Puppet
- Inspired by a historical dog and created for the National Civil War Centre's Theatre Learning Programme
- Built on-site in the Artist's Studio so the process could be shared with visitors.

Puppetry is an inherently collaborative art form, and I love bringing that into the puppet making process from the start. It is at the core of the workshops I run whether that is in schools, with local craft groups or as part of a larger community project.
Puppetry and puppet making should be accessible to all, so whenever possible I share my processes both in person and through social media. Whilst working as Artist in Residence at the National Civil War Centre, I did this through displays, sketch books and chatting with visitors.
I can only be in one place at once, unfortunately. So, I also create downloadable instructions and templates that can be printed on paper or thin card. These are perfect for schools, Scout and Guide groups or crafting at home.
